Welcome to Oakford Fine Carpentry
At Oakford Fine Carpentry we are proud to be a small family business, tucked away in the heart of North Dorset producing high quality bespoke carpentry, handmade Kitchens and Bathroom furniture in a small but well equipped busy workshop looking out on the old lime quarry within the valley that it sits. As well as the busy workshop, we also have a small professional team to call on to help with onsite fitting, undertaking small one off jobs all the way up to large, complex heritage restoration and renovation projects, working closely with other local trades, craftsmen and businesses. Please get in touch and we will be very happy to assist in any way we can.
The basis behind everything we produce is for it to be the very best. We only use the best materials and hardware. All our kitchen and bathroom cabinetry is hand made using a hardwood called tulipwood. We select and machine it to be completely knot free and with a very close, straight grain, its ideal for cabinet fascia’s and doors. Units are constructed from the highest grade of birch ply. Very strong, waterproof and great to finish naturally or hand painted its vastly superior to any chipboard or mdf alternative. Cabinets, fascia’s and doors are all made with mortice and tenon joints, drawer boxes with traditional dovetails and when combined with high performance adhesive it produces joints that are extremely strong and reliable. Hardware is of the highest quality, from solid brass hinges and top spec soft close drawer runners to secret magnet door fasteners and top designer handles.
‘Bespoke’ is a word often used these days when discussing furniture, especially kitchens but means much more than choosing the colour of the doors or the handles, to be truly bespoke means to be made entirely for just one customer. Because all our cabinets are made from scratch, there are no set sizes, your kitchen can be made to fit the space you need it to without having to use fillers and blanking panels. Drawers can be made of solid oak with hand cut dovetail joints or secret drawers behind ‘grown up’ doors can be finished in any number of exciting, colourful ways to add some fun. Your imagination is not bound by what a computer can draw with limited sized boxes. There is a lot of choices and decisions to be made but we can give as much or as little guidance based on our experience as you feel you need before providing a final design.
